I’ve noticed that my skin has been behaving quite well recently, and I think I have these products to thank for it. Since January, I’ve been good and kept up with my routine (most days anyway) so I guess that was a big part of it as well.
Now, let me share with you guys the things I’ve been loving for keeping my skin happy and healthy!
Taking my makeup off is always the first thing I like to do to begin my night-time skincare routine, and this is what I’ve been using to take it all off. You guys all know what a classic this is, and even though it’s such a basic product nowadays and there are so many dupes for it, I still think it’s amazing. It’s so easy to use; with just one swipe, all my makeup’s off. It makes my skin feel super fresh and clean. Although I still think that oil cleansers are the best, I’ve been reaching for this a lot more these days.
2. I like to double cleanse, so I follow up with a foam cleanser. I still use the Origins Checks and Balances face wash, which is absolute my favourite. It’s amazing at taking off all the excess dirt off my skin without making it feel stripped and dry. Then after that, I just brush my teeth and take my contacts out.
3. I have yet to find a toner that I adore, although I am using one by Celeteque right now. I also have a trial size of a Kiehl’s one, but I think I want to reserve that for when I travel. If you guys have any toner suggestions, please leave them below. I really want to find THE ONE.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is THE miracle worker. Hands down, the best thing that has happened to my skin since… EVER! I never really got the whole putting oil over oily skin thing, but it actually works! It doesn’t make my skin oily, and it sinks in while I sleep and then does its magic. My skin feels so much healthier and softer because of this. I don’t exactly know what it’s for, but it makes my moisturiser work better, and apparently all the ingredients in it repair and improve your skin. I’m so glad I have this because my skin has been looking and feeling so much better now.
What I like to do is put 6 drops in the palm of my hand and rub my hands together, then spread it around my face. I then start to massage my face, pulling upwards from my between my eyebrows to the top of my forehead (like they do at the spa), and then I use my index finger (placed on either side of my nose) and thumb (placed under my chin) to pull sideways towards my ears. I’ve been into delaying the ageing process, and i heard massaging your face helps to prevent lines and wrinkles. I then finish off by patting everything in. :)
5. Philosophy’s Hope in a Jar (Oil Free)
After the dry oil, I put a moisturiser over the top to help make my skin even more soft and supple. I’ve been trying other moisturisers but right now, this is the one that works best for me. It’s not greasy, which is good since I have oily skin, and I use it both day and night. It’s really hydrating but it’s not a thick moisturiser. It’s fairly light and it sinks into my skin well enough (since I do have the oil underneath). When I wake up and I use this combo, my skin feels so good and healthy. I honestly think they’ve made my skin slightly less oily than before, which is so great! I usually just spread it onto my face and neck, and then pat it on once it’s all over.
This is the first eye cream that I’ve used that doesn’t make my eyes sting and go all watery. It’s so good at hydrating under my eyes, and it’s not too thick that I can use this both day and night. When I wake up in the morning, I’ve noticed that using this helps lessen the darkness under my eyes and it looks so much brighter. My under eye concealer goes on more smoothly now too. :) I’m not sure it has any anti-ageing properties, but I guess its main purpose is for hydration. I just use my ring finger and pat most of this under my eyes, and the left over product up to my brow bone.
7. The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil
This is another oil product that surprises me. Tea tree oil is good at keeping acne at bay, and I like to use this product as a spot treatment for any zits that like to pop up when I wake up in the morning. It’s good because it doesn’t dry up the blemish or the skin around it, but it helps fight the bacteria and makes them disappear quickly. For baby zits, it goes away over night, but for Mt. Vesuvius type zits, it takes about a couple of days. It also helps heal the scars that the blemish leaves behind. I love that it’s so cooling on the skin and you can really tell that it works. I’m a little sad that it’s so small though, but then I usually use so little anyway. I usually just drop a little onto my finger and dab it onto the spot.
In the morning, I usually just wash my face with a foam cleanser, then put the moisturiser and eye cream on since I don’t like putting a lot on my skin before I put on my makeup.
And that’s my skincare routine done! :) My promise has been fulfilled! :D I’ve been trying out other products as well, but these are the ones that work the best for me right now, and I love them.
If you have any recommendations for me (both night-time and morning products), please list them below because I would love to try out other products because I’m really into my skincare for some reason. I’ve really been seeing the benefit in keeping your skin healthy. :) But anyway, thank you for reading and I hope you guys enjoyed. :)
