I was a bit naughty yesterday and took advantage of the fact that we were out Christmas shopping. I ended up buying a couple of things from the MAC and Body Shop Christmas collections, and a few other things:
L-R: Naked, Museum Bronze, Gold, Copper Sparkle, Black
1. MAC Nocturnals Pigments and Glitter/Black & Gold
I’ve always thought that MAC Pigments were great, so I decided to choose this set out of all the items in the collection. The packaging for the other products were amazing, but I wasn’t overly impressed with the products inside. I find that I like applying these pigments best when they’re damp because that’s when you get the most intense color out of them, and they’re easy to blend. Well, except for the glitter pigments since they’re too chunky, but they’re really pretty. Just be careful when applying them since they tend to fall out, and they have a tendency to end up on your eyeball if you don’t pack it on slowly.
Naked – is a pretty flesh-toned color, with a gold champagne sheen to it. It gives a super pretty wash of color on the eyes.
Museum Bronze – is the perfect bronze color, and has a warm golden sheen.
Gold – is a chunky glitter, and the color is a very true gold.
Copper Sparkle – is a very warm orange-y copper, and it also has a warm golden sheen.
Black – is also a chunky glitter with a pure black color and hints of silver.
2. MAC Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Raven
Raven looks like a very warm burgundy color in the pencil, but when it’s swatched, the color is a lot deeper, with flecks of black. On the waterline, it’s very dark and is so much prettier than your standard black. The color makes my brown eyes stand out quite a bit, and it looks really nice smudge in on my lower lashline. The Kohl Power Eye Pencil is my favorite range of eyeliners from MAC because on me, it doesn’t smudge or fade throughout the night. This is part of the MAC Divine Night collection
3. MAC Cleanse Off Oil
If you didn’t already know, my favorite way to take my makeup off is with a cleansing oil, and the MAC Cleanse Off Oil has always been one of my favorites. I finally purchased the big bottle of it after testing it out in the travel size, and I’m still quite impressed. It melts all the makeup off my face, my waterproof eyeliner and mascara always just dissolve into nothing, and even waterproof lipstick-lipgloss-lipcream hybrids are easy to take off. It’s very similar to my Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil, but it’s slightly less oily, and it turns into a lather after some time. I just follow it up with my usual foaming cleanser, and my face is squeaky clean.
4. OPI Nail Envy Nail Strengthener (Sensitive & Peeling)
My nails are absolutely horrendous—they take forever to grow, then break and peel easily when it gets too long, and they’ve turned yellow from too much nail polish wearing. I heard someone mention this product is great for problems like mine. It makes for a great base coat, and it dries quickly and with a nice shine. I can’t say I’ve tried it out for long enough, but ideally, it’s supposed to help with nail growth, damage and discoloration. I’ll keep you guys posted. :)
5. The Body Shop All-in-One BB Cream
When I tested it out on the back of my hand, I was impressed to see that it set with a matte finish, so I decided instantly to pick it up. When I tried it on today, I squeezed it out onto my fingers and was surprised to see that it came out white. When I rubbed it between my fingers, there was suddenly color between my fingers. Apparently, (because I didn’t read) it’s a skin-adapting product, I think I made the mistake of buying the shade darker though. I always choose 3, but apparently, that’s their darkest shade. Although, when I put it on and blended it well into my skin, you could hardly notice a difference. It doesn’t feel greasy at all, and like I said, it dries matte. It has a light coverage, but it evens out my skintone, and it doesn’t look at all like I have makeup on. I’d say this is a good BB cream for those with oily skins, but I’ll keep you guys updated.
6. The Body Shop Body Butter Christmas Gift Set
I’ve never been diligent when it came to moisturizing my skin, but I saw this gift set and I was hooked instantly. I’ve always been curious about their body butters since everyone raves about how good they are. I used to dislike how the scents were too strong, but for some reason, they all smelled sooo good to me in the shop. I wish I could also pick up the Satsuma and Honeymania ones, but I’m happy with this set because they all have little tubs of the best smelling ones—Chocomania, Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, and Coconut. My mom also got the other set which has Moringa, Olive, Strawberry and Pink Grapefruit. These body butters are a lot thicker and richer, and I’m not a fan of heavy butters for when I’m going out. But, I think these would be perfect for moisturizing after a shower before bed. Plus, if you’re like me and you want to try these out, I’d say pick up the mini ones first before buying a big tub that you might not even like. They also make a good present! :)
And those are the things I picked up when I went Christmas shopping. Did you guys see anything you might like to give as presents to your friends or for yourself? I will certainly be enjoying these products this winter. If you want to see swatches or makeup looks using these products, just tell me below. Or, if you have any recommendations for more Christmas shopping, go ahead and share them with me, too. :)
Oh! And be on the lookout for another haul soon. My mom’s back home from the US, and she went a bit crazy with the Thanksgiving, Black Friday and outlet sales, so… :P But anyway, I hope you guys liked it! :)
