Monthly Favorites: November 2013

Hello, darlings!

‘Twas the end of another month, and Christmastime is now upon us. The month of November was all about basics because it was the start of the new semester, and I haven’t been going out too much or doing much at all, (aside from work work and more work) so I’ve been keeping it as natural as possible.

Here are the products that have been keeping me from looking like a zombie all month:

1. Dior Rosy Glow Awakening Blush

This product is one of those high tech, pH-adapting, self-adjusting type thing. I was slightly skeptical since the color in the pan is quite scary looking, but once it’s applied, it really does adjust to your skin. It leaves the most beautiful and natural flush on the cheeks, and on me, it gives this slightly reddish pink blush. I find that I can never go overboard with this blush and I apply it directly on the apples of my cheeks for that fresh faced glow. It’s not overly pigmented, but somehow, I don’t use too much of it. And, it blends so well and it lasts all day. So, despite its extortionate price, I’d say it’s worth it because it will last me forever. And come on, the packaging alone would make you want to have it.

2. YSL Touche Eclat & Makeup Forever Full Cover Concealer

When I went on vacation last Halloween, I decided to take the MUFE concealer with me because I knew I would go swimming and since it’s waterproof, I wouldn’t have to scare the children with my bare face. (I’m being overly dramatic, but whatever) I was never completely blown away by this when I first bought it, but for some reason, when I wore it on that vacation, my mind was blown. I wore it under my eyes, and holy crap! I didn’t even know where my under eye circles went! Like, seriously, these two products under the eyes are amazing! The Touche Eclat really helps brighten my dark circles and the concealer is so pigmented that it just disappears.

With the Touche Eclat, for those who are not happy with it, I’d assume you were hoping it would give you coverage, but honey, it will not. It was meant for highlighting and brightening, which is why I like to pair it up with the concealer.

Another thing I’ve learned when using the concealer is that, with blemishes and acne scars, you have to dab it on, but don’t blend it just yet! Let it settle on your skin for a couple of seconds before blending it because it just helps set the concealer, otherwise, you’ll just wipe off the concealer. Plus, you get maximum coverage when you do that. At least, that’s what happens with me. What I also love about this is that you need the tiniest bit (but not too tiny, which was my first mistake) for your whole face, but you can layer it up without it looking cakey at all. And, like I said, it’s waterproof so expect it to stay all day.

3. Benefit They’re Real! Mascara

I deemed this as my holy grail mascara back when I first bought it, and now that I’ve repurchased it, it’s like being reunited with a long lost love. You guys all know how amazing this mascara is, so do I really need to talk about it? :P But for those who have been hiding under a rock this whole time, this is great because it’s long lasting (not waterproof, but it’s smudgeproof!) and makes your lashes look phenomenal (almost false lash like, but still somehow natural). For the price, it’s worth it because it doesn’t dry out too quickly, too.

4. Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector

I bought this duo a long time ago (the one with the coral shade), and it truly is the best lip balm-gloss hybrid ever. First of all, it smells like vanilla cupcakes and deliciousness. Secondly, it moisturizes your lips an insane amount. I can put this on extremely chapped lips, and within the hour, they’re cured. And lastly, it really does make your lips look perfect: kinda glossy but not greasy, makes them look plumper and more healthy looking, and it keeps them from looking dry, too.

5. Body & Face THAIRAPY

I think my mom bought this in Rustan’s a couple of months ago and she gave it to me because she knew I had problems with dry hair and that I liked putting oil in it to keep it healthy. To be honest, I love the Organix Moroccan Argan Oil, but I think I like this better because it’s kind of an all around product—you can use it in your hair and on dry patches on your body. I rub this in my hands and put it in my hair, and it makes it smell, feel and look so amazing and soft, AND! My hands are notorious for feeling like sandpaper (I’m not even exaggerating), but my friends said that my hands have been feeling a lot softer than usual and I honestly think it’s because of this baby. :)

Man, I can’t wait for Christmas and New Year! I know I’ve been slacking with posts recently, but I’ll be doing a haul (since my mom just got back from the US) and Christmas/New Year party looks, so stay tuned for those. Other than that, these are my favorites for the month of November. :D

What have you guys been loving recently? :) Oh, and are you guys just as excited for the holidays? :D
