Yesterday, I went to have my picture taken for my visa application and I wanted to look presentable. We all know how horrible most people look for their passports, their visas, or any other official document that requires a photo. Well, in mine I look either like an angry ex-convict or an awkward teenager who just never seems to have a good hair day.
So, I wanted to step up this time and prepped myself to look decent for my photos.
To do so, I kept in mind that they would use flash and that I need to emphasize my features (the contours of your face, eyebrows, etc.), otherwise, they’d be washed out .

For my hair, I just used my Thairapy Moroccan Argan Oil and let it fan dry. Preferably, your hair is tucked behind your ears or away from your face, since ears matter for some reason. For my outfit, it’s recommended that you wear a top with a collar on it, and I went for my blue polo from Zara.
When I got to the place to have my photo taken, the guy was not at all helpful and he was quite impatient. It really felt like he was so unhappy and sick of his job, and he made me feel uncomfortable. Knowing me, I kept being respectful and chippy despite his meanness, and patiently waited for my photos to develop.
Also, apparently, my ears are too small and they’re way too close to my head so they don’t stick out at all. We took a couple of test shots in different hair styles, but you really can’t see them, as evidenced by the photos below.
I’d say they turned out okay, although I didn’t expect my blush to disappear completely, as well as my contour. And, I could have gone for a slightly darker lip, although I don’t mind it as much. I’m glad I went for a relatively matte foundation since I don’t want to look shiny in my photo, although I think they edited any shine. I guess those are the things to keep in mind when you know you’re going to be photographed.
I also don’t think it’s flattering that my forehead is so bare and that I’m not smiling in the passport photo, but I don’t have a choice, now do I? Ahhh I don’t like not smiling in photos. :( I still look like a convict though, but with makeup! This looks less angry than my previous one, but I do think that I can do better next time.
Man, now I want to do a proper photoshoot makeup look!
What do you recommend for photo ready makeup? :)
