I’m not as big on highlighting my cheeks that often since I, for some reason, get oily on the tops of my cheeks so they ‘glow’ naturally. But, since I came across it and haven’t stopped thinking about it, I finally caved and bought it—the sought after highlighter of the year, The Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer.
Packaging is super pretty and I love that it has a mirror, don’t you? It may not look like much, but you really have to swatch it to see how beautiful it really is. It feels very soft and the texture isn’t gritty like some highlighters with shimmer are. This gives the nicest and most glowy sheen on your the high points of your face. Think “Victoria Secret Angel” and “candlelight” or “afterglow” all put together. It looks more glossy than glittery, in my opinion. It’s also quite a huge pan for a highlighter, so I’d say definitely worth the money. This is going to last me forever!
The color’s more iced gold than rose gold, and I think it’s so different from a ton of other pinky shimmer highlighters that I own. It’s so flattering on different skin tones as well. I know that a lot of pale people adore this, and I bought this right after I went to the beach so this is definitely nice for people with a tan as well. Although, I’m sure that Betty Lou Manizer is also nice if you want the same glow but in a bronze shade. Oh, and I love that you can build up the intensity. You can go subtle because it’s easy to blend out, or you can go full on disco ball and pack it on.
This is my first purchase from The Balm and I am super excited to keep using it. I have my eyes on other stuff as well, but I’m going to delay my next purchases. Oh, and if you’re wondering what lip color I have on, it’s a YSL Glossy Stain. Check it out here.
