Drugstore Beauty Haul #1: Watsons

Over the past few weeks, after I go to the gym, I’ve been passing by the drugstore and exploring the items that they had in stock. I saved up some money, and at the end of each week, I would purchase a couple of items. I’ve been holding myself back from using the items so I could show you properly in a post, so here they are:

A sneak peek inside the makeup bag.

This makeup bag came free after I reached a certain amount in my MaxFactor purchases. Yay!

 1. Revlon Lash Potion Mascara in Blackest Black

I’ve only seen a couple of people talk about this and I heard that they liked it, so I wanted to give it a try. I wasn’t a fan of the original Grow Luscious mascara, so I’m hoping that this doesn’t disappoint. I checked the tester out and the consistency is very wet, and the wand isn’t as huge, so I look forward to trying it out.

 2. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous

I tried out this one out when I was messing about at the store, and I know so many people talk about this particular shade because it’s such a nice and bright true orange color. When you put it on, it looks like you ate an orange popsicle but in a good way. And the lasting power is amazing, so your lips look like they’re super juicy all day.

3. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush Beguin

This one, I tried out today and I chose this color (although it’s a very autumn type shade) because when you rub it in, it looks like a natural flush on the lips and it looks like you’ve been eating well or something. And again, the lasting power is great and also wears nicely. Also, since it’s a balm, it keeps your lips from getting dry, but I will admit that this isn’t as hydrating as the Revlon Lip Butters.

 4. Revlon Photo Ready BB Cream in 03 Medium

Despite BB creams being very popular in the makeup market, I’m an absolute noob when it comes to BB creams. I’m aware they’re supposed to be some type of hybrid between a tinted moisturizer and some type of skincare product, so er, I went and gave it a go. This is my first ever time to try out a BB cream, so I was looking forward to giving this a go.

When I first put product on the back of my hand, I noticed that the texture and consistency are kind of like Chanel’s Vitalumiere Aqua, but of course this has waaay less coverage; I’m also not sure if it’s a water-based product either. It takes quite a while to sink into the skin and leaves a dewy finish. So, for those of you who have oily skin like I do, you really have to set it with powder. When I’m touching my skin now, it feels ever so slightly greasy, but it may be because I’m on my period? Who knows. Or, I’ll try it with fingers next time, maybe it’ll work better then.

5. L’oreal SuperLiner Liquid Eyeliner in Black

This is actually a repurchase of mine because I absolutely loved this when I first tried it. I became obsessed with using liquid liner that I neglected my gel eyeliners completely because I loved this one so much. I love that it’s a felt tip pen so it’s really easy to control, and your hand is more steady this way. The brush also transitions from thick to a fine point so you can adjust from there. The product itself is very pigmented; it’s seriously the blackest black liner I’ve ever tried. It’s also very long lasting, even without a primer. I’m not exactly sure if it’s waterproof, but on me, it doesn’t smudge or leave me with panda eyes. I also like the Maybelline version of this if you’re looking for an alternative.

6. L’oreal Caresse Shine in Juliette

This is also sort of a repurchase as I already have this, but in other colors. If you don’t know what this is, this is supposed to be a dupe of the YSL Glossy Stains. It’s kind of a cross between a stain and a lipgloss (I think). The shade Juliette is a slightly more orange-red, almost a banana-ketchup red. I haven’t tried it on my lips, but I did like the swatch on my hand. The lasting power is great, as well as the pigmentation. Although, I will say that it can get slightly sticky and gloopy If you layer too much on, so you have to be careful with that. Maybe blot it before adding another layer and see how it goes.

7. MaxFactor Clump Defy Mascara in Black

I heard some people talk about how they liked the CoverGirl Clump Crusher, and this is apparently its MaxFactor equivalent, so I had to try it out. (Also because there was a big display and I was curious) I asked if they had a waterproof version, but then the saleslady ended up giving me a different mascara, so I settled for the original version.

I must say, after testing it out the first time, I was very impressed. The first coat was very lengthening and separating, and the second coat gave me enough volume without the clumps! It also holds a curl very well, plus the brush also enhances the curl because of the way it’s shaped (which is curved). The mascara also doesn’t smudge even though it isn’t waterproof; I forgot I had to go to the gym, so I had mascara as I was sweating a lot, and it didn’t budge at all! Oh, and it’s easy to take off. I noticed that the brush is plastic and isn’t very wobbly, which I like because it means I have more control. I do think very highly of this one and it might even be one of my favorites this month.

8. MaxFactor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush in Soft Cardinal

Off the bat, I will say that this is an amazing blush. The packaging is crap, but the product itself is amazing. The pigmentation is good that it’s not too sheer, is buildable, and not too in your face. I was expecting it to be a cream to powder formula, but apparently not. It’s slightly balm-y in texture, but it means that it’s more tacky so it lasts longer on your skin. It blends so well and personally, it works best with fingers. I am definitely going to buy the other colors and see how I like those.

 9. MaxFactor Miracle Touch Foundation in Golden

I haven’t tried this out properly yet, but I heard someone mention how much she loved this foundation. I think it might be similar to the compact version of Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, but I’m not so sure. The website says that it’s a solid-to-liquid formula and works for all skin types. It also says to use a sponge, and good thing it already comes with one hidden away in a compact on the lid. I’m excited to try this out since it promises to give a flawless finish.

10. Dove Hair Fall Rescue Conditioner

I had no choice but to add this and some sanitary napkins so I could avail two free watches (which I gave to my Ates). I originally wanted the Tresemme Heat Protectant, but they were out of stock so I settled for this one. I actually really like this conditioner; I tried the one my brother (yeah, my brother) had in his flat and it made my hair sooo smooth and healthy looking! I hope I like this version better since it says anti-hairfall and my hair fall is really bad. And it smells pretty good, too!

Have you guys been shopping too? If so, what’s your favorite purchase? Comment below and maybe I can pick those up, too. :)

With love,

Julia

I actually do have 2 questions for you if you don’t mind.
Could it be only me or do some of the comments appear like they are coming from brain dead individuals?
:-P And, if you are posting at other sites, I would like to follow
you. Could you make a list of all of all your social pages
like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?|

What do you think?
