Since I’m still practicing how to write, I thought I’d do another tag just so I can get used to the swing of things.
Originally, this is a Youtube video tag but since I have no video editing software, I might as well write about it here! So here it is, my Colors of the Rainbow Tag!
(Here is the original video started by TalkBeckyTalk on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2EPmWSX9Sg)
The idea for this tag is basically, there are seven colors in the rainbow and you choose your favorite product (it can be either beauty or fashion, or anything at all!) that corresponds to that color. And also, Pink and Multi-Colored aren’t in the rainbow so Becky added the two to the list.
Here is an overview of all the items.
This choice is such a cliche. Everyone went for their favorite red lipstick, and so did I. I didn’t have anything else that was red that I particularly enjoyed, and this one was the first thing that came to mind when I thought about RED. I’m always into wearing red lips since it makes my lips look fuller, and this NYX Soft Matte Lip Creme in Monte Carlo is fantastic. The packaging is pretty bog standard, and it has a doe-foot applicator. I love that it’s a liquid lipstick so it goes on really smoothly on the lips, the pigmentation is phenomenal and the lasting power is amazing (I went swimming with it on, and it stayed on pretty well). And like the product says, it’s matte but it doesn’t dry my lips out which is perfect! On its own, it’s a very classic pin-up girl kind of red, but it also looks really good when you put it over the top of a darker red lip liner or lipstick (I like to use MAC Brick Lip Liner).
I looked everywhere for something orange that was really orange but this was as close as I could get. Well, actually, there was also an OPI nail polish, but I don’t know where I put it. I chose this because during the summer, Benefit’s Cha Cha Tint was my go-to blush. The formula of this one is similar to their Posie Tint so it’s kind of a liqui-gel consistency, whereas Benetint is just a liquid stain. I love Benefit’s lip and cheek stains because they’re just so easy to use, they look so flattering and look good for every occasion. Because it’s a stain, it literally stains your lips and cheeks so it stays on your face the whole day through, and it looks so natural that you can hardly tell that you’re wearing something on your cheeks. This looks especially good on tan skin because it’s a very bright coral color, so definitely perfect for summer!
I got this based on Elle Fowler’s recommendation, so when I saw this at a Body Shop counter, I snapped it up quickly. The Body Shop’s Banana Shampoo and Conditioner are a great combination, but I don’t use them very often because it is limited edition (or a seasonal item, I’m not sure). The shampoo lathers really well and it leaves your hair feeling very clean, and the conditioner leaves your hair feeling very smooth and moisturized. What I love best is the smell since bananas are my favorite fruit. I keep stopping myself from tasting it since it just smells so good! One downside to this though is that (this is for people with longer hair) you need to use a lot for it to work really well, which is also why I use it sparingly.
This is such a random product and it isn’t really something you’d share with other people, but I just love Dove’s Go Fresh Spray Deodorant in Cucumber and Green Tea so much. I’ve been using it for years and it’s just my favorite deodorant of all time. I tried the other scents of the aerosol deodorants, and I like those too, but I just like this the best. I also tried this scent in the roll on and waxy formulas, but the aerosol one lasts so much longer on me. The reason this is my favorite is that when I spray it to my armpits (yes, appealing, isn’t it?), it always feels cold and I love the sensation. Next, the smell! God, I don’t think I can talk about this enough, but seriously, it just smells so good. Even after a really long and sweaty day at uni, I stop and smell my armpits and the smell is still there. (Please don’t ask why I smell my armpits, I just do) I don’t think it’s an antiperspirant since I still sweat like a pig in that area, but that’s not a big problem for me.
Also, another story about this:
At school, I changed my shirt and hung it on a rack, then I left to do something. When I came back, I saw my guy friend smelling the armpit area of my shirt. I was so horrified since he could have been smelling something bad, so I ran and grabbed it from him and he said “Your armpits smell amazing!” Obviously, I was flattered and I’ve never changed deodorants since.
I’m kind of cheating with this because this isn’t exactly the bluest thing I own, but I saw this first and I thought it was a pretty good product anyway. Backstory with this is that I went to the Beauty Bar during Christmas and saw that they were selling Steam Cream, which is basically an all around moisturizer (kind of like Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream except that it’s more of a cream than a balm) in lovely Christmas packaging. I didn’t get it, but when I passed by again and saw that one of them said Glasgow (there’s a secret behind Glasgow), so I was like “Okay, I have to get it.” I heard a lot of good things about them, so I wasn’t all too disappointed, and it wasn’t as expensive as other moisturizers. When I tried it on, I absolutely hated the smell. It smelled very strongly of something herbal or medicinal, but I sucked it up since I spent the last of my Christmas money on it. It’s a very liquid cream consistency, and it sinks into your skin pretty well. I applied it to my face, and the next day my skin was super moisturized. I kept using it and I got used to the scent. So far, it’s one of my favorite moisturizers.
I’m pretty sure that this isn’t indigo, but my personal definition for indigo is a dark purply blue—the color of the night sky perhaps. When I looked through my makeup drawers, I saw this. This is my favorite dark lipstick and it’s a MAC Lipstick in Smoked Purple. This is limited edition, but I’m sure they will come out with something similar soon. It’s a matte lipstick, and I noticed that it dries my lips out a bit, but when I put it over lip balm, it’s fine. The color is really intense, and it almost looks black, but it’s such a great color. Lasting power is also great as long as you layer it on and blot it. It looks especially good during winter. (Not that we have winter, but still!)
I was confused which one to put as indigo and violet, but I decided to go for Maybelline The Falsies Waterproof for violet. When I first tried this on, I wasn’t really impressed with it and was disappointed. But, I decided to keep using it so I layered it up with other mascaras and it worked pretty well. One day, I got really lazy and decided to use this one on its own and I was surprised. It looked really good when you put more coats on. I also like how the wand helps curl your lashes. It’s not clumpy, and it’s waterproof so it stays on your lashes all day, but it’s really easy to get off. I will try the other The Falsies mascaras though and compare.
Viktor and Rolf’s Flowerbomb is my current favorite perfume. I first got a sample of it from my mom and I absolutely adored the scent, bought a full size at the Thailand airport, and used it non-stop. After a while, the scent became very sickly sweet to me so I stopped using it. I used other perfumes and refused to wear this one just in case I changed my mind about my liking for it. A couple of weeks ago, I decided to change up my scent because the weather was different at the time. I sprayed just a little bit on, and left. When I went to see my friends, they all complimented me on how good I smelled. After that, I kept using it and I’m a little worried that I might run out of it, so I just spray it behind my ears, on my shirt and on my wrists.
And last but not the least, the multi-colored item. I probably own something else that’s multi-colored, but I saw this on my shelf and thought it would be interesting. This is a canvas ‘painting’ I made by melting crayons. I have another one that I made, but the rainbow effect is better in this one, and I really like it. There really isn’t much to say about it. But er, for those who want to know how to make your own:
1. Get a canvas and make sure it’s a size you’re comfortable with.
2. Use a glue gun and stick down the crayons in the design you want. (I suggest keep the wrappers on, but you can peel a part of it too. It’s hard to glue down the crayon wax alone.)
3. Use a hair dryer and point it to the direction you want your crayons to melt.
And that’s it! Simple as that.
That’s the end of my Colors of the Rainbow tag! I hope you guys enjoyed and found it interesting. Comment below what your items are.
